Space is no longer a distant topic of the future—it already shapes numerous technologies and applications that reach far beyond outer space. Whether communication satellites, drones, new materials, or digital innovations: space opens up opportunities for research, business, and society.

With the new platform “Mainfranken–New.Space,” the Würzburg–Schweinfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg aim to showcase the region’s diverse capabilities, connect stakeholders, and foster cooperation. In Mainfranken, a genuine space ecosystem has emerged with strong competencies—for example in picosatellites, specialized degree programs, non-university research institutions, innovative start-ups, and industry partners. The kick-off at the IHK Würzburg brings together leading representatives from academia, research, industry, and politics.

Our event is aimed especially at companies in the manufacturing sector, particularly mechanical and plant engineering, electrical engineering, and IT. These companies are invited to explore the opportunities of linking with—and transforming through—the space sector, and to open up new application fields for their expertise.
