Online info event (Session 2 | Labour Law): Building Your Team & Protecting Your Value – Hiring Employees, Securing IP, Avoiding Risks
Description

Bringing your first team members on board is a huge milestone — and legally, it can get tricky fast. In this online session, you’ll get a practical overview of the most important labour law basics founders should know when building their team.

Together with season5 (a law firm headquartered in Berlin with an office in Schweinfurt), Luisa (lawyer for Labour & Employment) will guide you through key questions around role design and contract setup — for founders, first employees and freelancers. A special focus will be on what protects your company’s value: IP/know-how allocation, non-compete protection and securing your most important assets.

We’ll also look at typical separation and conflict scenarios: employee exits, but also co-founder breakups — and why these cases are often more complex in Germany and Europe than you might expect. You’ll learn when freelancers truly offer flexibility, what to watch out for to stay compliant, and how to avoid costly mistakes from the start.

What you’ll take away:

  • How to structure roles sensibly and choose the right contracts (founders, employees, freelancers)

  • How to ensure IP and know-how stay safely within the company

  • What matters when it comes to non-competes / competition protection

  • What’s especially important in DE/EU when it comes to separations/exits (including co-founder conflicts)

  • Practical tools, real-world examples and directly applicable checkpoints

Format: Online (Zoom)
We’ll email the Zoom link to all registered participants a few days before the event.
